We’re looking for someone to join our Parks & Recreation team as a Groundskeeper, helping maintain parks, sports fields, medians, rights-of-way, landscaped areas, and other public spaces. In this role, you’ll perform a wide range of grounds, greens, turf, and facility maintenance tasks, including mowing, planting, irrigation upkeep, minor building repairs, and custodial duties. This position works under the supervision of the Parks Superintendent or Crew Leader and may provide guidance to part-time or temporary workers.

About You:
You enjoy working outdoors, take pride in keeping public spaces clean and safe, and are comfortable performing physical labor in all weather conditions. You’re reliable, safety-minded, and able to follow instructions while completing daily tasks independently or as part of a team.

What You'll Need To Be Successful In This Role

  • Some experience in maintaining parks, golf courses, landscaped areas, or related facilities.
  • Basic knowledge of custodial tasks, minor building repair methods, irrigation systems, tools, equipment, and safety practices (including OSHA).
  • Ability to perform heavy manual labor, lift and carry objects, work in outdoor conditions, and complete tasks according to daily schedules.
  • Ability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • Valid Arizona driver’s license.
  • Any combination of education, experience, and training that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

What You'll Do For The City Of Kingman

Grounds & Turf Maintenance (40%) Mow, trim, water, seed, fertilize, top-dress, and condition turf areas in parks, sports fields, and landscaped public spaces. Plant and maintain lawns, trees, shrubs, and flowers. Prepare sports fields for games and tournaments.
Custodial & Public Space Upkeep (30%) Perform custodial duties such as sweeping, mopping, cleaning restrooms, emptying trash, removing debris, washing surfaces, cleaning windows, and maintaining public areas. Remove graffiti and ensure facilities remain safe and usable.
Facility & Equipment Maintenance (10%) Inspect and clean restrooms, drinking fountains, ramadas, playgrounds, courts, and other facilities. Perform minor semi-skilled building repairs such as painting, plumbing, or carpentry. Maintain and repair lawn equipment and report unsafe conditions or equipment problems.
Irrigation & Specialized Equipment Operation (10%) Operate, maintain, and adjust irrigation systems, pumps, sprinklers, tractors, mowers, and other specialized turf equipment. Assist with installation and repair of sprinkler lines and heads.
Event, Recreation & Department Support (10%) Set up and take down equipment for recreation programs and special events. Install, maintain, and repair sports equipment such as goals, nets, and field markings. Assist with construction or enhancement of park facilities and maintain records of completed work.
