Responsibilities:
JOB SUMMARY
Provide support in the development, direction, and implementation of H-E-B's Public Affairs, Excellence in Education Program.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Owns the entire end-to-end coordination and running of H-E-B’s Excellence in Education program.

Provides direction into the continued goals and success of the program.

Creates and develops H-E-B Excellence in Education materials, including press releases and correspondences, independently.

Sets program goals and objectives and manages the success to meet stated objectives.

Coordinates with universities for the review of all nominee applications.

Oversees the finalist selection process.
-
Interviews program finalists along with Principals, Students, and other key individuals for video, editorial, and media purposes.

Represents the company at schools, key nomination events, and the finalist(s)/winner(s) awards event.

Will serve as Excellence in Education’s media spokesperson – speaking to large groups of people, speaking with media/press, serving on task forces, and/or committees as needed.

Maintains good relationships within the educational community – School Districts, School Boards, Universities, and Elementary/Middle/High Schools – along with the program Judges and nomination panels.

Plans and conducts program events including planning, logistics, schedule, and measurements of success to meet stated objectives.

Works with outside contractors and agencies to design key collateral materials.

Develops editorial content for internal and external publications.

QUALIFICATIONS & KEY REQUIREMENTS:

Experience running programs and maintaining important program relationships.

Ability to work independently, Possesses complete knowledge of role. Applies a broad range of theories, concepts, principles, and methodologies to assignments containing some elements of complexity. Majority of work is spent both independently planning and completing the design, implementation, and/or delivery of processes, programs, and/or policies.

Strong communication and organizational skills.

Ability to interview finalists and others so that they are able to verbalize what makes their nominee a great educator.

May coach, direct, oversee, or review the work of lower-level professionals.
-
Networks with more senior internal and external stakeholders who may be unfamiliar with the area of specialty.
-
Bachelor's degree or additional role-relevant experience. 5+ years of relevant experience preferred.

History of working/maintaining relationships with the Directors for Texas State Educators, schools/universities, Administrators, education boards/officials, judges, panels, and others.

Shows a passion for education and the mission of the Excellence in Education program.

Understanding of operational functions of non-profit, government, non-government, and other civic organizations.

Familiarity with what's needed to manage outside public relations, advertising, and promotional contractors.

Advanced public speaking, presentation, and writing skills.

Advanced interpersonal skills.

Ability to work in a team environment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS:
-
Must be able to travel constantly state-wide by car or plane with overnight stays from mid-January – end of March every year.

Work extended hours; sit for extended periods.
