Position Overview

The Public Areas Attendant supports the Housekeeping Department and other hotel teams to maintain exceptional levels of cleanliness, organization, and guest satisfaction throughout all public and service spaces. This role focuses on maintaining a pristine environment in high-traffic guest areas, ensuring supplies are stocked, and assisting Room Attendants and hotel departments with operational needs.

What Youll Do

  • Public Area Cleaning & Maintenance
  • Vacuum, sweep, mop, and dust the lobby, hallways, elevators, stairwells, and service corridors.
  • Thoroughly clean, sanitize, and restock all public, employee public areas and restrooms.
  • Collect and remove trash, recyclables, and soiled items from public areas, service areas, and room attendant carts.
  • Perform scheduled deep-cleaning tasks such as carpet shampooing, window washing, or fixture cleaning.
  • Inspect assigned areas and report any maintenance issues (e.g., leaks, burnt-out lights, non-working equipment, damaged furniture) or safety hazards.
  • Promptly deliver guest-requested items such as towels, pillows, blankets, rollaway beds, cribs, irons, or toiletries.
  • Greet guests warmly and professionally while working in hallways and public spaces.
  • Respond to guest complaints or maintenance concerns and immediately report issues to a supervisor or the appropriate department.
  • Retrieve any guest property found in public areas or empty rooms and promptly turn it in to Lost and Found or Housekeeping Management.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned in support of daily operational needs; reliable attendance is an essential function of the role.

Linen & Supply Support

  • Transport clean linens from laundry or storage areas to floor linen closets, ensuring proper stocking on every floor.
  • Deliver operating supplies, amenities, and cleaning chemicals to Room Attendants carts and storage closets.
  • Assist Room Attendants with tasks requiring heavy lifting, such as mattress flipping, moving furniture, or removing large quantities of trash or soiled linen.

Guest Service & Support

  • Promptly deliver guest-requested items such as towels, pillows, blankets, rollaway beds, cribs, irons, or toiletries.
  • Greet guests warmly and professionally while working in hallways and public spaces.
  • Respond to guest complaints or maintenance concerns and immediately report issues to a supervisor or the appropriate department.

What Youll Bring

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and comfortably reach, bend, stoop, climb stairs, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Stamina to remain on feet while performing physical work throughout the shift.
  • Knowledge of proper cleaning chemicals and techniques for various surfaces, along with safe operation of cleaning equipment (industrial vacuums, carpet shampooers, floor polishers).
  • Strong organizational skills to efficiently stock, transport, and track linens, amenities, and supplies.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, such as stocking linen closets, cleaning high-traffic areas, and fulfilling guest and attendant requests.
  • Strong hearing and visual ability to detect signs of emergencies or safety concerns.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team while maintaining a positive, service-driven attitude.

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
  • Previous hospitality or housekeeping experience preferred.
