POSITION TITLE: Public Health Educator

MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State college or university with a Master’s Degree in public health or health education; OR

B) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York Stat college or university with a Bachelor's Degree or higher in health education, health science, public health, health promotion, community health or health communications; OR

C) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in education, nursing, epidemiology, wellness and fitness, or nutrition and one year of experience in health education; OR

D) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, human services, social work or psychology and two years of experience in health education.

GRADE LEVEL: 18

Starting Salary: 26.0141/hr (2025 rate)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plans, coordinates, and implements activities for the Southern Tier Cancer Services Program (CSP). Responsibilities include developing and executing outreach and education workplans to achieve program goals and objectives, building and maintaining community partnerships, and supporting program sustainability efforts. Coordinating provider trainings, delivering community presentations, and participating in media outreach.

Oversees colorectal cancer screening initiatives and provides client case management services to ensure access to care.

Establishing and maintaining relationships with community agencies, businesses, and healthcare providers to promote program services and identify, refer, and enroll eligible individuals into CSP.

Prepares and manages a variety of written materials to support program operations, including grant applications, contracts, reports, program communications, and public education materials such as press releases.
