Public Health Division Southwest Region is comprised of eight counties and works to promote health and wellness, improve health outcomes, and assure safety net services for all people in New Mexico.
Why does the job exist?

The purpose of this position is to provide direct clinical services and coordinate client care for the Public Health Division, Southwest Region. Perform clinical services in the following programs, family planning, sexually transmitted diseases, breast and cervical screening, Hepatitis C, tuberculosis and treatment of opioid use disorders. This also requires providing consultation to public health nurses, nurse practitioners, disease intervention staff and responding to disease outbreaks and oversee appropriate response. Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two weeks of certified list.
How does it get done?

This position will be responsible for:
  • Providing and managing direct care for specified patient populations.
  • Serve as a consultant for the region's public health nurses who are treating latent TB infections.
  • Serve as Safety Officer or other assigned role for Regional Incident Command System for Emergency Preparedness/Response.
  • Collaborate with the PHD/Southwest Region, State and out of state and federal epidemiologist and Public Health Officials in the development of special studies aimed at better understanding of disease patterns, risk factors, trends and outcomes on a regular basis.

Minimum Qualification

Requires an MD or DO, licensure and certification to practice in New Mexico.
Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. Successful completion of Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act (HIPPA) and successful completion of Clinical Laboratory Improvements Act (CLIA) courses are required within sixty (60) days of employment.
Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Lifting up to 50 pounds may be required. Services are provided in a clinic with diverse population, many who do not speak the English language. Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm. Travel to satellite offices, meetings, training sessions, and special events with the occasional overnight stay is required.
