Description

The Public Health Project Coordinator, under general supervision, works with a team that includes the Division Administrator, Project Leaders, and Program Managers to ensure the Health Department achieves its strategic objectives and key results in alignment with its mission: to improve the health and quality of life of Detroiters through innovative public health policy, programs, and partnerships.

The Project Coordinator supports division leadership in implementing programs and services to best meet the public health needs of the community. Duties and responsibilities include program coordination and implementation, daily operations, and communications.


Examples of Duties

Program Implementation

  • Implement division programs within the strategic framework of the department alongside the Division of Special Projects.
Team Development
  • Contribute to a team that is dedicated to achieving excellence in programming and policy to advance division goals.

Quality Improvement
  • Work with division team and department peers to advance positive organizational culture development.
Other
  • Other duties assigned by supervisor.
  • Certification in Incident Command Structure Crisis Management, and participation in Public Health Emergency Preparedness activities in real or simulated emergencies.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree Public Health, Business Administration, Health Science Administration or other related field, with two years experience in community engagement, community organizing, and project coordination and implementation.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be substituted to meet the education and experience requirement of this position.

RETIREMENT BENEFITS
City Employees Retirement System
As a regular City employee you automatically become a member of the General Retirement System. This entitles you to a retirement allowance after:
  • Completion of thirty (30) years of service;
  • At age sixty (60) if you have at least ten (10) years of service, or
  • At age sixty-five (65) with eight (8) years of service.
  • In the event of disability, other eligibility rules apply);
  • An early, actuarially reduced, retirement is offered after you have attained at least twenty-five (25) years of service;
  • Employees are vested after ten (10) years of service, regardless of age.
