Public Relations & Content Manager
Position Overview
The Public Relations & Content Manager develops, manages and executes strategic communications initiatives including media relations, corporate communications and marketing copy. The primary goals of the Public Relations & Content Manager are educating about the hospice benefit, increasing hospice utilization, communicating effectively with internal and external partners, and enhancing the brand and reputation of St. Croix Hospice. Additional core responsibilities include project management, key performance indicator tracking, sector research, news monitoring, writing, editing, multi-channel content development and managing day-to-day content distribution strategy. This position reports to the Director of Marketing & Communications.
Essential Functions and Skills
Responsibilities
- Conduct day-to-day management and implementation of media outreach, including proactive placement/pitching, reporter cultivation, and development of alerts, news releases and related content.

Provide overall writing, editing and proofreading support that aligns with brand standards for multi-medium internal and external materials that include but are not limited to web copy, social media posts, marketing materials, patient education tools, press releases, media pitches and more.

Respond to media inquiries, schedule interviews, and prep staff via media training sessions and the development of background materials and talking points.

Maintain and update media contacts database, track media interactions and interest.

Monitor hospice and healthcare industry news; analyze and provide regular communications and reporting.

Proactively identify issues or trends that may impact the organization’s reputation; develop and execute strategies to mitigate outcomes.

Participate in reputation management and crisis communication monitoring, planning and response.

Support, develop and implement key messaging for leadership teams and departments.
- Work collaboratively with other Marketing & Communications team members and other departments to develop and execute strategic communications tools using consistent messaging and processes which are on time, compliant and within allocated budget.

Implement measures to determine effectiveness of communications programs and create plans to improve results.

Develop and execute content strategies aligned with business goals and target audiences.

Plan, create and oversee high-quality content across channels (blogs, social media, internal platforms, etc.).

Manage content calendars and coordinate with writers, designers and other stakeholders.

Analyze content performance using metrics (SEO, engagement, conversions) and optimize accordingly.

Ensure brand voice, messaging consistency and adherence to editorial standards across all content.

Requirements/Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, marketing, business, English or other relevant fields

Minimum 5-10 years of experience in corporate communications and/or public/media relations; healthcare experience preferred.

Minimum 5 years of media relations experience.

Experience with press release distribution and media monitoring platforms and analytics; understanding of public relations data and ability to analyze.
- Familiarity with SEO best practices, keyword research and content optimization.

Experience with content management systems (CMS), analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) and marketing platforms.

Proven experience in content marketing, content strategy or a similar role.

Ability to analyze data and translate insights into actionable content improvements.

Excellent project management and organizational skills.
Preferred

Strong writing, critical thinking, editing, proofing, oral communication and internal/external communication skills across multiple platforms; familiar with journalistic writing practices and AP Style.

Background in healthcare preferred.

Ability to seek out, identify and package compelling stories that influence audiences and achieve desired results.

Strong interviewing/information gathering skills, discretionary judgement, and experience with reputation management and crisis communication strategy.

Aptitude for proactively cultivating internal and external sources and comfort working with senior leadership on executive communications and media opportunities to promote the agency’s reputation.

Strong collaboration and communication skills for working with cross-functional teams.

Ability to pass DHS background study.

The annual salary range for this role is $90,000 - $105,000/annually. An employee’s actual annual salary will be based on but not limited to: geographic location, relevant education, applicable certifications, depth of experience, and special skillsets. The total compensation package for this position may also include the opportunity to participate in employee benefits including our medical/dental/vision/pet insurance, disability and life insurance, paid time off, and 401(k) retirement plans, subject to applicable plan terms, and/or eligibility for other compensation.
