Pulmonary Care Nurse

Yellowstone River Nursing and Rehabilitation is seeking a Nurse (LPN or RN) for our Pulmonary Improvement Program to join our Skilled Nursing Facility team!

  • This position is 5 days a week! Hours and days are flexible.

Pulmonary Nurse Responsibilities

Pulmonary Nurses are generally responsible for the following duties:

  • Perform chest examinations

  • Screen potential resident for Pulmonary Improvement Program, if appropriate for program, request order from provider for program

  • Enter orders in PCC and initiate care plan

  • Do Initial Evaluations, Re-Evaluations, Discharges and Daily Notes according to Medicare guidelines.

  • Document billing daily

  • Consult with doctors and other healthcare staff to develop and modify patient treatment plans

  • Provide detailed therapy, requiring significant independent judgment when caring for patients in intensive care

  • Perform physical examination and diagnostic tests measuring lung capacity

  • Treat patients using oxygen or oxygen mixtures, aerosol medications as needed and chest physiotherapy

  • Educate patients on how to use equipment and medication

  • Regularly check on patients and equipment


Respiratory Therapist Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bedside manner

  • Physiological knowledge

  • Medical teamwork

  • Judgment

  • Procedural skills

  • People skills


Pulmonary Nurse/Nurse Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

  • Current Nursing License in the state of Montana (LPN or RN)

  • Long-Term Care experience preferred; however, not required.

  • Current BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification
