About POWERTECH
POWERTECH is a center of excellence for propulsion technologies, specializing in the design, engineering, and manufacturing of combustion engines, expendable turbojet engines, and turbofan engines for a wide range of aerospace, defence, and autonomous applications, including fixed- and rotary-wing UAVs and other advanced platforms.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated Pump Design Engineer to design, analyse, and validate fuel and pumps for small gas turbine engines. The engineer will be responsible for full life-cycle pump development—from concept and detailed design through performance validation and integration with the engine’s lubrication and fuel systems.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Pump Design & Development
-
Perform design trade-offs considering efficiency, NPSH, cavitation limits, and packaging within the engine core and select the best configuration.
-
Design gear and other types of pumps for:
-
Fuel systems
-
Lubrication systems
-
Develop 3D CAD models, assemblies, and engineering drawings compliant with aerospace standards (GD&T, tolerance analysis, and material selection).
-
Select suitable electric motor and coordinate with electrical team
-
Analysis & Simulation
-
Conduct Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analyses for internal flow, pressure distribution, cavitation prediction, and efficiency optimization.
-
Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for structural integrity, rotor dynamics, fatigue life, and thermal effects under transient operating conditions.
-
Use simulation tools such as ANSYS Fluent, CFX, STAR CCM, and ANSYS Mechanical to validate designs before prototype fabrication.
-
Testing & Validation
-
Define and execute pump test procedures, including performance mapping, endurance testing, and vibration/thermal qualification.
-
Support integration testing with engine subsystems
-
Work closely with test engineers to correlate CFD/FEA predictions with experimental data.
-
Cross-Functional Collaboration
-
Collaborate with compressor, bearing, and control system teams to ensure proper hydraulic and mechanical integration.
-
Coordinate with ECU and MGU design teams for control logic and power requirements of electrically driven pumps.
-
Participate in Design Reviews (PDR, CDR)
-
Documentation, and compliance with aerospace design standards (such as MIL-STD-810).
-
Documentation & Communication
-
Prepare detailed design reports, test documentation, and design justification packages.
-
Present technical findings clearly to multidisciplinary teams and management.
-
Maintain accurate version control and design traceability through PLM tools.
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Fluid Machinery Engineering.
-
Minimum 4–8 years of experience in pump design (aerospace or high-speed industrial).
-
Strong proficiency in CFD and FEA (ANSYS, SolidWorks Simulation, or similar).
