Managing the procurement of goods and services from suppliers, while simultaneously overseeing the tracking and control of inventory levels within a company, ensuring the right amount of stock is available to meet production or sales demands, all while optimizing costs and maintaining accurate records through various inventory management systems.
Key responsibilities may include:
Purchasing:
- Identifying and researching potential suppliers
- Negotiating prices and contract terms with vendors
- Placing purchase orders based on inventory needs and demand forecasts
- Monitoring supplier performance and resolving delivery issues
- Maintaining vendor databases and supplier relationships
Inventory Management:
- Tracking inventory levels using computerized systems
- Performing cycle counts and physical inventory checks to ensure accuracy
- Setting reorder points and managing stock levels
- Identifying and addressing inventory discrepancies
- Implementing inventory optimization strategies to minimize carrying costs
Reporting and Analysis:
- Generating inventory reports on stock levels, usage trends, and cost analysis
- Analyzing data to identify potential cost savings and improve purchasing decisions
- Forecasting future inventory needs based on sales trends and production requirements
