Purchase Assistant Engineer

A purchase assistant engineer assists with managing purchasing activities, tracking orders, maintaining vendor relationships, analyzing market trends, and ensuring compliance with procurement protocols. Key responsibilities include vendor research, purchase order (PO) processing, stock monitoring, and keeping accurate records, all while supporting a senior purchasing team in the engineering and construction sectors. Key Responsibilities

  • Order Management:
  • Issue, track, and follow up on purchase orders (POs) from submission to receipt.
  • Monitor stock levels and identify needs for purchasing new items.
  • Ensure timely delivery of goods and materials.
  • Vendor & Supplier Relations:
  • Locate and research potential vendors for materials, equipment, and supplies.
  • Interview vendors to understand product availability and sales terms.
  • Maintain friendly and professional relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Data & Records Management:
  • Update and maintain internal databases with vendor, order, and cost information.
  • Keep accurate records of goods ordered and received.
  • Prepare various reports, such as those on supplier delivery performance or items at risk of backorder.
  • Market Research & Analysis:
  • Conduct market research to identify pricing trends.
  • Analyze vendor offers to evaluate their value and negotiate better prices.
  • Prepare cost analyses for purchased items and services.
  • Compliance & Support:
  • Ensure compliance with established purchase standards and protocols.
  • Collaborate with procurement and supplier teams to resolve issues.
  • Liaise with warehouse staff to ensure products arrive in good condition.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Technical Knowledge:
  • Familiarity with purchasing software such as Procurify or SpendMap is beneficial.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Organizational & Interpersonal Skills:
  • Strong organizational skills for managing multiple tasks.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Education & Experience:
  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field like logistics, business administration, or engineering is often required.
  • A relevant diploma in fields like Electrical or Mechanical engineering can also be sufficient.
  • Proven work experience as a Purchasing Assistant, Purchasing Officer, or in a similar role.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹9,221.66 - ₹25,000.00 per month
