Job Description:
Purchase Engineer will be responsible for handling all procurement and material management activities at the solar project site. This includes sourcing vendors, negotiating terms, raising purchase orders, ensuring timely delivery, and coordinating closely with the site engineering and accounts teams to support uninterrupted project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and finalize vendors/suppliers for site materials, civil works, electrical items, mechanical items, and consumables.
- Obtain quotations, prepare comparative statements, and recommend cost-effective procurement options.
- Raise Purchase Orders (POs) and ensure proper approval/documentation.
- Ensure material delivery as per project schedules to avoid site delays.
- Coordinate with site engineers for material requirement planning (short-term and long-term).
- Monitor stock levels at the site and liaise with stores for proper material management.
- Ensure quality checks of received materials in line with specifications.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, logistics, and warranty conditions with vendors.
- Maintain proper vendor records, agreements, and work orders for contractors (civil, machinery hire, labour).
- Follow up for invoices and ensure timely payment processing in coordination with accounts.
- Ensure compliance with company SOPs, statutory norms, and safety guidelines.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Engineering (Electrical / Mechanical / Civil preferred).
- 2–4 years of experience in procurement, preferably in solar/renewable energy or construction industry.
- Strong vendor network for site-based purchases (civil, electrical, mechanical, consumables).
- Knowledge of purchase process, taxation (GST, TDS), and vendor contracts.
- Good skills in MS Office, Tally/ERP software, and email communication.
- Strong negotiation, documentation, and follow-up skills.
- Ability to work independently at project sites and manage multiple vendors.
