Job description :Purchase head in a pharma job description includes managing the end-to-end sourcing of APIs and raw materials, developing global and local supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring strict adherence to regulatory and quality standards like GMP and FDA. Key responsibilities also involve market intelligence, cost control, supply chain security, and leading a team to achieve procurement goals while collaborating with internal departments like Store, QA, R&D, and production.

Key responsibilities

· Strategic Sourcing and Procurement: Develop and implement procurement strategies for APIs, intermediates, and key raw materials to meet business objectives.

· Vendor Management: Identify, evaluate, and onboard global and domestic suppliers, and build long-term strategic partnerships.

· Negotiations and Contracts: Lead multimillion-dollar negotiations for pricing, terms, and credit, and structure favourable contracts.

· Quality and Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all procurement activities and suppliers comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), FDA, and other relevant regulations. This includes managing necessary documentation like DMF, CEP, and stability data.

· Supply Chain and Risk Management: Ensure the timely and cost-effective supply of materials, manage inventory levels, and implement risk mitigation strategies, such as dual sourcing.

· Team and Cross-Functional Leadership: Lead and mentor the procurement team, and collaborate with internal departments such as Quality Assurance (QA), Regulatory Affairs (RA), R&D, production, and finance to align strategies with operational needs.

· Market Intelligence: Monitor global market trends, pricing dynamics, and regulatory changes to identify opportunities and mitigate risks.

· Financial Management: Oversee the procurement budget and achieve cost-saving goals.

Qualifications and skills

· Bachelor's or advanced degree in a relevant field like Supply Chain Management, Business, Pharmacy, or Chemical Engineering.

· Extensive experience (e.g., 10+ years) in procurement, particularly within the pharmaceutical industry and API sourcing.

· Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical products, market trends, and supply chain processes.

· Expertise in negotiation, vendor management, and contract structuring.

· Proficiency in ERP systems like SAP and other procurement software.

· Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

· Familiarity with regulatory requirements, such as GMP and vendor qualification processes.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
