Position Title: Purchase Manager
Department: Procurement / Supply Chain
Reports To: Head of Operations / General Manager
Location: Coimbatore
Job Purpose:
The Purchase Manager is responsible for planning, sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials, equipment, and services in alignment with organizational needs. The role ensures cost efficiency, vendor reliability, timely delivery, and adherence to quality standards while maintaining strong supplier relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Procurement & Vendor Management
- Develop and implement effective procurement strategies and purchasing policies.
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate with vendors and suppliers for favorable terms.
- Build and maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure long-term supply stability.
- Conduct periodic supplier audits and performance evaluations.
2. Cost & Contract Management
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to optimize cost savings.
- Ensure procurement activities align with company budget and cost-control objectives.
- Manage contracts, service agreements, and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
3. Material Planning & Inventory Control
- Forecast demand and plan procurement schedules to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Coordinate with production, operations, and stores for material requirements.
- Monitor stock levels and manage purchase orders to avoid overstocking or shortages.
4. Compliance & Documentation
- Maintain accurate purchase records, vendor contracts, and payment details.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and statutory regulations.
- Manage import/export documentation and liaise with logistics partners (if applicable).
5. Team Management & Coordination
- Lead, mentor, and supervise the procurement team.
- Collaborate with finance, operations, and other departments to align purchase needs.
- Drive digital adoption in procurement processes (ERP, e-procurement systems).
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of procurement best practices, supply chain management, and inventory control.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and MS Office tools.
- Excellent communication, vendor relationship, and leadership abilities.
- Ability to handle pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field (MBA preferred).
- 7–10 years of procurement experience, with at least 3–5 years in a managerial role.
- IT/ITES Industry-specific procurement or related experience is an added advantage.
