Purchase Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Procurement & Sourcing:
  • Identify and evaluate reliable suppliers for lab equipment, reagents, consumables, IT hardware, and facility maintenance items.
  • Negotiate contracts and terms with vendors to secure advantageous pricing and service levels.
  • Issue purchase orders and track deliveries to ensure timely availability of materials.
  • Inventory Management:
  • Monitor stock levels of laboratory and diagnostic consumables to avoid shortages or overstock.
  • Coordinate with the lab and operations teams to forecast demand and manage reordering schedules.
  • Implement inventory control systems for better tracking and reporting.
  • Vendor & Compliance Management:
  • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure all purchased items meet required quality and regulatory standards (NABL, NABH, etc.).
  • Maintain procurement documentation for audits and compliance checks.
  • Cost & Budget Control:
  • Monitor purchase budgets and provide regular reports on cost-saving initiatives.
  • Analyze price trends and market conditions to identify cost reduction opportunities.
  • Coordination & Reporting:
  • Work closely with the laboratory, operations, finance, and quality assurance teams to align procurement activities with organizational goals.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and present monthly procurement reports to management.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Life Sciences, or a related field. MBA or professional certification (e.g., CIPS, CPM) is a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in procurement, preferably in a healthcare, diagnostics, or hospital environment.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory products and equipment used in diagnostics.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards (e.g., NABL, NABH, ISO) is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and ERP/procurement software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Tally).
