Strategic and managerial duties
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies: Create and execute strategies to optimize costs and ensure the company acquires necessary goods and services efficiently.
- Manage the purchasing team: Hire, train, and supervise other purchasing staff.
- Control budget: Manage the purchasing department's budget and track expenditures.
- Analyze performance: Track and analyze purchasing metrics to identify cost savings and opportunities for improvement.
- Stay informed: Keep up with trends in procurement, market trends, and relevant technology.
Supplier and vendor management
- Source and evaluate suppliers: Research and identify potential vendors based on quality, price, and reliability.
- Negotiate contracts and pricing: Secure the best possible prices and terms for goods and services through negotiation.
- Build and maintain relationships: Cultivate positive and long-term relationships with key suppliers.
Operational duties
- Coordinate with internal departments: Collaborate with other departments to forecast supply needs and understand procurement requirements.
- Ensure quality and timely delivery: Make sure that procured items meet quality standards and are delivered on schedule.
- Manage inventory: Monitor inventory levels and coordinate stock replenishment to prevent shortages or overstocking.
- Handle day-to-day activities: Process purchase orders, manage invoices, and oversee the receiving of goods.
