Job Description (JDs):
1. Procurement & Vendor Management
- Develop and implement effective procurement strategies aligned with company objectives.
- Identify, evaluate, and shortlist suppliers/vendors for raw materials, consumables, spares, capital equipment, and services.
- Negotiate pricing, credit terms, delivery conditions, and long-term supply contracts.
- Maintain a reliable vendor database and ensure periodic performance evaluations.
- Build strong supplier relationships to ensure timely and quality supply.
2. Purchase Planning & Inventory Coordination
- Coordinate with production, maintenance, stores, and finance departments to understand material requirements.
- Ensure timely procurement to prevent stock-outs or overstock situations.
- Monitor and maintain optimum inventory levels through strategic planning.
- Evaluate indents, prepare purchase orders, and ensure purchase compliance with company policies.
3. Cost Optimization & Budget Control
- Analyze market trends, price fluctuations, and supplier performance to achieve cost savings.
- Implement procurement best practices to reduce purchase costs without compromising quality.
- Participate in annual budgeting for procurement-related expenses.
4. Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, company SOPs, and audit guidelines.
- Maintain proper documentation including purchase orders, quotations, agreements, and approvals.
- Liaison with commercial, accounts, and logistics teams for smooth material flow.
5. Logistics & Delivery Coordination
- Follow up with suppliers for on-time delivery of materials.
- Coordinate with transporters and logistics providers as necessary.
- Resolve issues related to quality, quantity, delivery, or billing discrepancies.
6. Team Leadership & Reporting
- Lead and mentor the purchase/procurement team.
- Generate periodic reports on purchases, supplier performance, cost savings, and inventory status.
- Ensure continuous improvement in procurement processes.
Required Qualifications & Experience:Educational Qualifications:
- Preferred: MBA in Supply Chain Management / Materials Management / Operations.
- Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree (B.Com / BBA / B.Sc / BE / Diploma in Engineering—depending on industry).
Experience:
- Minimum: 5–8 years in procurement/purchase.
- Preferred: Experience in manufacturing/steel/engineering industries, depending on your requirement.
Technical / Functional Skills:
- Strong knowledge of procurement processes, supply chain, and vendor management.
- Expertise in SAP/ERP systems for purchase and inventory modules.
- Understanding of negotiation strategies, contract management, and costing.
- Knowledge of relevant compliance (GST, e-way bill, commercial documentation).
- Ability to source materials locally and nationally.
