Job Summary
The Purchase Manager for Garment Industry is responsible for planning, sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing raw materials, fabrics, trims, accessories, and services required for garment production. The role ensures timely availability of quality materials at optimal cost while maintaining supplier relationships and compliance with company and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities Procurement & Sourcing
- Source fabrics, trims, accessories, and packaging materials as per buyer and production requirements
- Develop and maintain a reliable supplier and vendor network (local & international)
- Evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, delivery, and compliance
Costing & Negotiation
- Negotiate prices, payment terms, lead times, and MOQs with suppliers
- Support garment costing and budgeting to meet target margins
- Monitor market trends and raw material price fluctuations
Planning & Coordination
- Coordinate with merchandising, production, and planning teams to ensure material availability
- Prepare and execute purchase plans based on production schedules
- Ensure on-time delivery of materials to avoid production delays
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure purchased materials meet quality standards and buyer specifications
- Work with QA/QC teams for inspections and approvals
- Ensure suppliers comply with ethical, social, and environmental standards
Inventory Management
- Monitor inventory levels and optimize stock to avoid shortages or excess
- Maintain accurate purchase records, reports, and documentation
- Implement cost-control and waste-reduction measures
Reporting & Systems
- Maintain purchase orders, supplier data, and MIS reports
- Use ERP / procurement software effectively
- Provide regular purchase and cost analysis reports to management
