Role Overview

We are looking for a technically sound Purchase Officer with a strong understanding of the textile and fabric sourcing ecosystem. The ideal candidate will manage the procurement of grey fabric, coordinate with vendors and internal teams, and ensure timely supply for dyeing and printing operations.

Key Responsibilities

Vendor & Network Management

  • Build and maintain a reliable network of weavers, knitters, and fabric traders.

  • Develop alternate vendor options to ensure continuous supply and cost competitiveness.

  • Foster strong long-term relationships with key suppliers.

Fabric Sourcing & Procurement

  • Source grey fabric as per required specifications (fiber, count, GSM, width).

  • Evaluate and negotiate vendor quotations based on market and yarn trends.

  • Ensure competitive pricing and consistent fabric quality.

Quality Coordination & Deliveries

  • Coordinate with the Quality Control (QC) team before accepting fabric deliveries.

  • Monitor delivery timelines and follow up with vendors to ensure timely dispatch.

  • Ensure smooth flow of material for dyeing, printing, and processing units.

Purchase Operations & Documentation

  • Raise Purchase Orders (POs), confirm timelines, and track all deliveries.

  • Maintain accurate and updated records of POs, challans, invoices, and stock levels.

  • Monitor fabric inventory and raise alerts for reordering.

Market & Trend Analysis

  • Stay updated with market prices, yarn costs, and textile trends.

  • Provide inputs to management for strategic sourcing decisions.

Key Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience: 3-6 years in fabric or textile purchasing/sourcing.

  • Education: Graduate/Diploma in Textile Engineering, Fabric Technology, or related field preferred.

  • Strong technical knowledge of fabrics, fibers, counts, GSM, and weaving processes.

  • Good negotiation and vendor management skills.

  • Proficiency in MS Excel and basic ERP or purchase management software.

  • Excellent coordination, record-keeping, and communication abilities
