As we continue to grow, we are seeking a Purchasing Specialist with experience in millwork, woodworking materials, and vendor management to join our dynamic team.


Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Purchase Specialist located in Ronkonkoma, NY. The Purchase Specialist will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials, hardware, and supplies required for our millwork projects. The role requires a strong understanding of wood species, veneers, laminates, architectural panels, hardware components and finishing materials, work closely with the production and design and project manager teams to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of materials.


Key Responsibilities

  • Source and procure millwork materials, including lumber, plywood, veneers, laminates, solid surfaces, adhesives, and hardware
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and new vendors to secure competitive pricing and ensure quality. Negotiating prices, terms and freight costs to maintain profitability.
  • Issue purchase orders and track order confirmations, shipments, and delivery schedules.
  • Manage inventory levels, ensuring material are available for upcoming projects while minimizing overstock.
  • Maintain purchasing documentation and update purchasing records accurately.
  • Coordinate with logistics and warehouse staff for incoming material inspections and storage.
  • Assist in identifying cost-saving opportunities and process improvements within the procurement workflow.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills


Qualifications

  • Knowledge of wood types, veneers, laminates, and architectural hardware.
  • Excellent negotiation, organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • High level of professionalism and integrity when dealing with vendors and team members.


Key Skills

  • Background in manufacturing or custom fabrication environments
  • Experience coordinating freight.
  • Understanding of LEED materials and environmentally sustainable sourcing.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Previous experience in millwork or related industry is a plus
