Purchaser & Material Estimator - Custom Residential Construction

Windsor building Systems manufactures custom residential home components for Amwood Homes. Amwood/Windsor manufacture these components for homes built in mainly a four-state region (WI, IL, MN, and IA). We supply our builder network with housing packages that range from first time buyer to leisure cabins to luxury homes. We design the homes based on the materials requested by our builders. Every builder has their own preferences and we configure the projects to accommodate their needs. We build the floor cassettes, wall panels, and trusses in one of our two production facilities located in Madison, WI and Montezuma IA. Then we site assemble the components constructing the entire framing of the home in just a few days.

The Purchaser & Material Estimator is responsible for producing loose materials lists required to field assemble our panelized home packages. This includes understanding job specifications and maintaining the ability to work with builders to verify accuracy. This person will be responsible for purchasing special order items and working with Logistics to monitor special order flow and back orders. This person is positive and proactive in making recommendations to management regarding system improvements or changes to increase efficiency.

The major functions of this position include:

• Generate loose materials lists
• Utilize estimating system to improve processes
• Purchase special order materials
• Coordinate special order arrivals and back orders with logistics
• Communicate back orders, shortages and overages with production/logistics
• Purchase non-commodity stock items and maintain proper inventory levels
• Assist with job costing; labor crew estimates, product estimating
• Backup for: production job batching and keying lock sets for job sets
• Provide continued improvement and feedback during production and yard cell meetings

The ideal candidate will have:

· Minimum of 1 year of experience in construction and/or estimating

· Experience with home building processes, practices and building codes preferred

· Experience with Plan-Swift or equivalent digitizing program a PLUS!

· Good visualization and communication skills

Pay: From $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
