We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Purchasing / Accounts Payable Specialist to join our growing manufacturing team. This position plays a critical role in supporting daily accounting and procurement operations while helping ensure efficient purchasing practices, vendor management, invoice processing, and cost control initiatives.

What You’ll Do
Purchasing & Procurement
- Manage purchasing activities for plant, office, and MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operating) supplies and services
- Source vendors, negotiate pricing, and evaluate supplier performance
- Create and manage purchase orders through the ERP system
- Ensure compliance with company purchasing approval processes
- Monitor delivery timelines and follow up on late orders
- Maintain vendor records including W-9s, ACH information, and credit applications
- Review procurement procedures and vendor quality documentation
Accounts Payable
- Process and verify invoices for accuracy
- Match invoices to packing slips and purchase orders
- Code and enter invoices into the ERP system
- Resolve discrepancies related to invoices, payments, or purchase orders
- Prepare weekly ACH and check payments
- Reconcile company credit cards and employee expense reports
- Maintain and reconcile petty cash
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities
- Support quarterly Sales & Use Tax reporting and year-end 1099 processing
- Create Bills of Lading and invoices for scrap shipments
- Coordinate FedEx, UPS, and DHL shipment documentation
- Maintain organized filing systems and accounting records
- Complete special projects and provide departmental support as needed
Qualifications
- College degree or equivalent work experience preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of Purchasing and/or Accounts Payable experience
- Manufacturing environment experience strongly preferred
- Experience supporting domestic and global supply chain operations is a plus
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- ERP system experience preferred
- Ability to prioritize tasks, stay organized, and work independently with minimal supervision
