Purchasing Agent

The Purchasing Agent is responsible for procuring medical supplies, equipment, and services to support hospital operations in accordance with the organizational policies and procedures of Teton Valley Health Care. The purchasing agent works closely with department directors to ensure that the correct products are purchased with emphasis on timely ordering, cost control, and vendor compliance.

Job Description:

  • Purchases goods and services according to the company’s policies and procedures.
  • Monitors supply room stock and places orders as needed.
  • Track and verify Purchase Orders and Invoices for all purchases
  • Coordinates with managers to maintain inventory levels.
  • Evaluates vendors based on GPO compliance, price, reliability, and previous transaction history.
  • Works with vendors to negotiate volume and cash transaction discounts, and other available discounts.
  • Ensures that purchasing documents are complete and accurate and include appropriate and reasonable terms and conditions.
  • Maintains pricing histories and other vendor records.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma
  • Previous experience in a procurement position or materials management department
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Good interpersonal skills including dealing with patients, co-workers, other departments and health care professionals
  • Basic Math Skills
  • Intermediate knowledge of computer use, including experience using Word and Excel
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Valid Driver License

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Supply Chain or Operations Management
  • Experience working in a healthcare environment
  • CPR/BLS Healthcare Certification
