Purchasing Agent - Buyer

Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Purchasing Agent to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing the procurement process, ensuring that materials and products are sourced efficiently and cost-effectively. This position requires strong negotiation skills and a thorough understanding of supply chain management, inventory control, and e-commerce practices.

Duties

• Manage the purchasing process from requisition to delivery, ensuring timely acquisition of materials and products.
• Utilize ERP systems such as SAP, JD Edwards, Oracle EBS, and AS400 for effective procurement operations.
• Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and evaluate their offerings.
• Negotiate contracts with suppliers to secure favorable pricing and terms.
• Collaborate with various departments including logistics, production planning, and merchandising to align purchasing strategies with business needs.
• Monitor inventory levels and manage stock replenishment to prevent shortages or excess inventory.
• Implement materials management practices to optimize supply chain efficiency.
• Analyze purchasing data to identify trends and opportunities for cost savings.
• Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier performance.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in purchasing or procurement roles within a supply chain environment.
• Strong knowledge of materials management, MRP processes, and inventory management techniques.
• Proficiency in using ERP systems such as SAP ERP, JD Edwards, Oracle EBS, or AS400.
• Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to build strong relationships with suppliers.
• Familiarity with e-commerce platforms and their integration into supply chain processes.
• Strong analytical skills for evaluating pricing strategies and supplier performance metrics.
• Ability to work collaboratively across departments while managing multiple priorities effectively.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
