Within CHFS, the Division of Procurement and Grant Oversight (DPGO) is the engine that drives purchasing and contracts across all departments. Whether it’s medical services, child welfare, or community health programs, DPGO plays a foundational role by ensuring every good and service is procured efficiently, ethically, and in full compliance with state and federal regulations.
This position resides in the Information Technology and Request for Proposal (IT/RFP) Branch, which supports complex, tech-focused procurements that power critical systems and services across CHFS.
As a Purchasing Agent I, you will be responsible for handling IT procurement tasks, such as issuing Purchase Orders (POs), placing Delivery Orders, obtaining quotes, and modifying existing master agreements. You’ll also submit Strategic Procurement Requests (SPR1s), coordinate cooperative purchasing efforts, and ensure compliance with procurement laws and guidelines. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Analyze procurement requests to determine the appropriate method and complete Purchase Orders, Delivery Orders, or cooperative agreements.
- Collect and compare vendor quotes in accordance with procurement regulations and internal policies.
- Submit and manage Strategic Procurement Requests (SPR1s).
- Prepare and submit delivery order or purchase order modifications of established master agreements.
- Conduct market research to identify qualified vendors, pricing trends, and technology procurement opportunities.
- Assist in the implementation of procurement policies and ensure alignment with current laws and best practices.
- Research, interpret, and apply relevant federal and state procurement laws, regulations, and grant requirements.
- Coordinate with internal departments and external vendors to communicate procurement procedures, resolve issues, and ensure timely order processing.
- Maintain accurate procurement documentation and records in accordance with audit and policy standards.
- Draft routine correspondence and procurement-related reports for internal stakeholders.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the branch and division.
