Purchasing Agent/Logistics Planner Job Description

A: Purpose and Scope:

The Purchasing Agent/Logistics Planner will focus on parts and inventory management activities and is responsible for purchasing actions necessary to provide materials, parts, and shop supplies as required to meet business requirements. This position will act as a liaison between purchasing, contracting, and production.

B. Responsibilities:

· Primary individual responsible for all corporate purchasing activities.

· As directed, establish relationships with qualified vendors for the procurement of appropriate qualified materiel, parts and supplies.

· As directed, establish relationships with current and new vendors for outsourcing processes.

· To support internal and external customers.

· Oversee throughput of demand requirements.

· Coordinate outside service process.

· Inventory management/controls.

C. Key Tasks:

· Initiate and follow-up Purchase Order actions.

· Initiate and follow-up Requisition Orders to vendors for outsourced processes.

· In conjunction with other company personnel, maintain controls for inventory, spares and rotable assets.

· Provide support for the other logistics functions as needed.

· Demand Planning: supporting part sales, manufacturing, and repair/overhaul.

· Analyze bills of materials, stock levels, and demand requirements.

· Plan and schedule released product to outside service process as required.

· Monitor progress on production completion dates and coordinate with contracting to ensure that proper work priorities are established.

· Communicate and analyze demand report with MAA Buyer.

· Create manufacturing orders to distribute to MAA stores to initiate production.

D. Organizational Relationships:

The Purchasing Agent/Logistics Planner reports to the Logistics Manager.

E. Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Possess organizational skills to identify, plan and project inventory levels to meet requirements.
  • Ability to apply organizational skills in a daily environment requiring multi-tasking responsibilities.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of materials and requirements planning tools, as well as planning and purchasing policies is necessary.
  • Ability to produce timely, accurate work to meet rigid schedules. Also, must understand the use of lead times.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Possesses computer skills, knowledge of word processing and database management.

F. Typical Education and Experience Requirements:

  • 0Bachelor’s degree in business and 2 years as a Planner or related experience in materials or sourcing, or,
  • Associate degree in business, 3 years as a Planner or related experience in materials or sourcing.

I. Status

This is a non-exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is subject to the requirements of DOT 49 CFR Part 40, and FAA 14 CFR Part 120 Drug and Alcohol Policy.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
