Overview
The Purchasing Assistant supports the Purchasing Manager by overseeing county purchasing processes, vendor evaluations, bid preparation, and contract administration in compliance with county policy and state law. This role manages office activities including fixed asset tracking, inventory control, fleet insurance coordination, purchasing card oversight, and administrative support. The position serves as a central resource for departments and elected officials on purchasing procedures, ensures accuracy in procurement documentation and accounts payable coding, assists with audits, and maintains comprehensive records for bids, contracts, and assets.

Minimum Entry Qualifications

  • Experience in purchasing, inventory, accounting support, or related administrative work.
  • Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software (e.g., Word, Excel).
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and handle confidential information.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced, frequently interrupted work environment.
  • Ability to work independently with little to no supervision while exercising sound judgment.

Pay: From $38,170.00 per year
