The Purchasing Buyer plays a critical role in managing the procurement process and ensuring that the organization acquires quality goods and services at competitive prices. This position involves overseeing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and optimizing the supply chain to enhance operational efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required for a highly motivated candidate (Supply Chain, Operations or like field)
  • 3-5+ years buying or related experience (Preferably in a manufacturing environment)
  • Experience with ERP systems (Epicor a plus) and MRP Processing
  • Microsoft Office package
  • Experience with contract management and supplier negotiation
  • Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance (For local pickup when required)

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Building Supplier relationships (Pricing, quality, on time deliveries, forecasts, packaging, shipping, returns, etc)
  • Pricing negotiations including delivery fees (Seeking best value)
  • Issue POs for stocked materials as needed to prevent out of stock situations
  • Manage inventory levels for Min, Max, Re-order quantities, lead times
  • Issue POs for non-stock items (Supplies, Services, etc)
  • Reliable flow of goods to meet both production and sales order demand
  • Issue RFQ's as needed
  • Handle non-conformance quality issues with supplier
  • Correct discrepancies in PO price, quantity and/or miscellaneous charges when invoices do not match receipts
  • Quote and oversee outside contractors working on machinery and/or building
  • Generate weekly production schedule
  • Working with Plant Management on inventory control to increase inventory turns

OTHER NOTABLES

  • Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, vibration, and chemicals
  • Must be capable of lifting 25 pounds
  • Ability to travel overseas if needed
  • Schedule is Monday to Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm or as needed to complete tasks
