TRUMPF is seeking a self-motivated Purchasing Intern who is ready to apply their analytical skills in a fast-paced and professional business setting. The intern will lead or support multiple cost savings and benchmark projects within various procurement category groups. This internship will provide the student exposure to real-world business problems and give them the opportunity to hone their problem-solving and communication skills in addition to procurement data analysis.
This internship will be onsite from January 2026 to August 2026. We will ask that you work at least 32 hours per week.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Preparing RFQ package with drawings and supporting price negotiations with suppliers
2. Preparing, executing, and analyzing data from requests for quotes to prepare bid comparison sheets
3. Working with cross-functional teams on cost savings projects to gather department requirements and preparing bid specification sheets
4. Supporting commodity group strategies for category groups such as sheet metal, drawings parts, Facilities Management, Logistics, etc.
5. Using SAP for data collection, maintenance of material master, invoice resolution and purchase requisition approvals to support the local operational team
6. Improving purchasing processes by supporting catalog development, process standards, etc.
Education, Experience and Knowledge:
1. Mechanical Engineering, Business management or Industrial engineering background with an interest in commercial topics
2. Ability to read engineering drawings
3. Enjoys working in multi-functional teams, comfortable in a fast-paced environment, and interested in technology offered by TRUMPF
4. Organized, goal-oriented, analytical, dedicated to improvement, self-motivated, and open-minded
