Purchasing & Logistics Specialist

Position Overview We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Purchasing & Logistics Specialist to oversee supplier coordination, logistics operations, and administrative support. This role will manage end to-end procurement and logistics activities, including vendor negotiations, quotation analysis, shipment tracking, and weekly reporting to customers. The position also includes general office administration duties to support smooth daily operations. Key Responsibilities Procurement & Vendor Management • • • • • •  Source, evaluate, and negotiate with U.S. and international suppliers, freight forwarders, and service providers to ensure competitive pricing and reliable performance.  Request, analyze, and compare quotations (RFQs/RFPs) for materials, logistics services, and freight options.  Develop and maintain supplier evaluation and performance tracking systems to ensure consistent quality and service.  Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, U.S. import/export laws, and duty/tariff regulations.  Coordinate with Chinese manufacturing teams regarding order readiness, packaging specifications, and shipping documentation (invoice, packing list, HTS codes, etc.).  Review and reconcile purchase orders vs. quotations to ensure cost consistency and accurate program budgeting. Logistics Coordination • Oversee the entire logistics process from shipment booking to final delivery. • Monitor transportation status and proactively resolve delays or discrepancies. • Communicate shipping status updates and potential risks to customers and internal teams. • Prepare and deliver weekly logistics status reports to customers and management. • Ensure all import/export activities follow applicable customs, tariff, and duty instructions. • Collaborate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and internal departments to optimize logistics efficiency. Data Analysis & Reporting • Conduct cost and trend analysis to support strategic decision-making. 32715 Folsom Rd, Farmington Hills, MI 48336 TQM North America, Inc. • Prepare comparison reports for freight and duty costs. • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) for on-time delivery, cost savings, and vendor performance. • Maintain accurate purchasing and shipping records in ERP or tracking systems. Product Strategy & Development • Manage the full lifecycle of battery products for e-commerce channels, including market research, product planning, and portfolio optimization. • Analyze market trends, competitor pricing, and customer demand to identify new product opportunities and recommend product improvements. • Collaborate with R&D and suppliers to define product specifications, certifications, and packaging requirements. • Ensure product listings meet performance, safety, and compliance standards across multiple online marketplaces Office Administration • Support general office operations, including document filing, correspondence, and scheduling. • Assist in financial coordination such as invoice checking, payment requests, and expense tracking. • Provide administrative support to management and other departments as needed. • Participate in company meetings and assist with internal communication. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering or related field. • Minimum 3 years of experience in purchasing, logistics, or Marketing roles. • Strong understanding of import/export regulations, incoterms, and duty/tariff instructions. • Excellent analytical and negotiation skills. • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); experience with ERP systems preferred. • Strong communication skills in English (both written and verbal); ability to interface with suppliers and customers professionally. • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to $75,000.00 per year
