Prime Line Distributors is an importer of selected specialty foods, from artisanal cheeses, fine cured meats, charcuterie, extra virgin olive oils, aged vinegars, imported pastas, truffles, wild mushrooms, San Marzano tomatoes, imported rice, imported flours, ancient grains, Italian espresso, and many more other specialty products. We deliver daily with our own fleet of refrigerated trucks with our divisions located in New York City, South & Central Florida, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas. We also ship across the country and export to the Caribbean and Latin America.

Position Summary

The Purchasing Manager will have full responsibility to purchase 2000+ food product items both domestically and internationally and act as the primary point of contact for related purchasing, inventory, and warehousing needs.

What you will do:

• Purchase all specialty food items at the lowest cost possible and best value
• Maintain and manage all warehouse inventory levels; regularly spot-check product for quality in warehouse.
• Run daily reports to clasp and correct faulty or incomplete data.
• Act as a liaison between the sales and warehousing teams as needed
• Maintain, build and strengthen relationships within all domestic and international vendors
• Maintain current knowledge of market conditions to optimize market swings and fluctuations
• Consult with vendors regarding current roles and new protein products. Initiate orders, schedule deliveries, and process related paperwork and documentation. Investigate protein product quality complaints.
• Other projects or tasks assigned by Management as needed

About you:

• Bachelor’s degree from accredited four-year college or university.
• 5-10 years of prior purchasing experience within food or beverage industry.
• Previous food importing experience strongly preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of database systems operation.
• Must be a team player with a positive attitude.
• Excellent verbal, telephone and written communication skills.
• Self-starter, professional, goal oriented and able to handle multiple tasks.
• Must have a sense of urgency and be able to work under pressure, be comfortable in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment.
• Flexibility: ability to work well with all departments and levels of staff both internally & externally.
• Have a drive to advance within the organization.
• Ability to effectively communicate in the English (written, oral) & Spanish language (oral)
• Italian speaker is a plus
