Job Summary
The Purchasing Manager in F&B is responsible for the timely and cost-effective purchase of food, beverages, and related supplies to ensure uninterrupted operations. The role focuses on purchase execution, supplier coordination, inventory availability, and adherence to quality and food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Raise and manage purchase orders for food, beverages, and consumables
- Ensure timely delivery of materials as per operational requirements
- Coordinate closely with chefs, kitchen teams, and storekeepers for daily needs
- Monitor stock levels and place orders to avoid shortages or overstocking
- Source items from approved suppliers and ensure price accuracy
- Check quality, quantity, and freshness of delivered items
- Handle supplier follow-ups, delivery discrepancies, and invoice matching
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation
- Support food cost control and wastage reduction initiatives
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and company standards
- Assist in vendor evaluation and price comparison when required
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Hospitality, or related field
- 2–4 years of purchasing experience in the F&B or hospitality industry
- Strong knowledge of food items, suppliers, and market pricing
- Familiarity with inventory systems, ERP, and MS Excel
- Understanding of food safety standards (HACCP, local regulations)
- Good negotiation, communication, and coordination skills
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Experience
- Experience in multi-outlet restaurants or hotel chains
- Knowledge of local F&B suppliers
- UAE/GCC market experience (if applicable)
