Job Summary:

The Purchasing Specialist supports procurement activities for concrete construction projects, ensuring timely and accurate purchasing of materials, tools, and equipment. This role focuses on implementing procurement processes, maintaining vendor relationships, and assisting senior team members to meet project schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with implementing procurement processes that support field operations and project schedules.
  • Purchase concrete materials including ready-mix, cement, aggregate, admixtures, rebar, mesh, formwork, accessories, and tools.
  • Support supplier and vendor communication, including requesting quotes and gathering pricing and lead time information.
  • Prepare and process purchase orders and basic subcontract documents, ensuring accuracy in quantities and specifications.
  • Monitor material needs by coordinating with site superintendents and project managers under the guidance of senior purchasing staff.
  • Maintain supplier records and help track vendor performance (cost, quality, reliability).
  • Work with accounting to provide supporting documents and assist in resolving simple invoice or delivery discrepancies.
  • Help track procurement data such as order status, delivery updates, and cost comparisons.
  • Assist estimating and project teams by collecting current material pricing and supplier quotes.
  • Follow safety, environmental, and quality standards in all purchasing-related activities.
  • Stay informed about basic industry trends and material pricing changes.
  • Promote Suntec's core principles to cultivate a collaborative, accountable work culture and create an ESOP mindset that emphasizes ownership, teamwork, and long-term investment.
Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of purchasing or procurement experience; construction or concrete industry exposure a plus
  • General understanding of construction materials or willingness to learn (rebar, forms, cement, etc.)
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with construction software platforms (Procore, Sage, Viewpoint, etc.) is helpful but not required
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, stay organized, and support team deadlines
