Purchasing/Planner Assistant

The Purchasing Planner Assistant is responsible for supporting the purchasing and planning functions, creating and maintaining schedules and satisfying material requirements and availability through evaluating supply and demand. The position requires extensive interaction with production supervision and personnel, in understanding schedules and capacity.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Works with the production planning team, purchasing and customer service as needed to ensure material availability and supports production schedules. Stays apprised of equipment downtime, equipment maintenance schedules, and work center capacity constraints.

Works with Production(operations), Receiving and Customer Service to complete daily production plans and meet shipping objectives.

Responsible for supporting the purchasing team with purchase orders, vendor management, and follow-ups.

Prints and maintains physical work orders to support production schedules and customer requirements.

Maintains proper identification of parts by planning specifications and ensures that accurate and reliable records and documentation are maintained.

Advises management of production status, and potential problems to ensure labor, tools, equipment, and services are provided as needed.

Advises supervision and management of production scrap, rework and remakes, adjusts schedules, and communicates changes to customer service.

Complies with all company safety rules and regulations.

Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED

Computer skills required: MRP/ERP Systems; Microsoft Office Suite.

Other skills required:

2+ years of purchasing or manufacturing production control and scheduling experience.

Knowledge of production practices and procedures

Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills

Ability to manage priorities and workflow.

Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.

Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
