QA Engineer Automated

Job Summary:
QA automation engineers design automated tests by creating scripts that run testing functions automatically. This includes determining the priority for test scenarios and creating execution plans to implement these scenarios. Designing documentation for automated processes.

The worker will perform the following activities to accomplish the following goals:

  • Performs software quality assurance, testing, and support for TIERS, YourTexasBenefits.com, YourTexasBenefits Mobile App, State Portal, Workflow Management, Eligibility Web Services, Enterprise Document Services, Enterprise Content Management, Document Center, Call Center Inquiry, and other Social Services applications.
  • Develop, enhance, maintain, and execute existing and new test plans and scenarios for performing software quality assurance of the various web-based J2EE/Portal applications within HHSC’s SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) platform using Agile methodologies.
  • As a member of the team, participate in requirements analysis, test design, test data preparation, and testing of various application components, as required.
  • Work with other teams as necessary to accomplish goals.
  • Create technical and design documentation, as required.
  • Employ contemporary testing methods to ensure applications function properly and without error.
  • Provide technical support for testing and implementation efforts.
  • Participate in program design, coding and test walk-through meetings to provide input regarding technical standards and customer requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Successful candidates will require:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong understanding and experience of fundamental programming and testing concepts in the context of Web based UI applications.
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in computer science, computer information systems, engineering, or management information systems is strongly preferred.

EXPERIENCE-

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • 8 Years: Experience/knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of software development and the full software development life cycle (SDLC), including knowledge of industry accepted software engineering practices and life cycle methods (Agile).
  • 8 Years: Knowledge of the limitations and capabilities of computer systems, information technology equipment, applicable programming languages, computer hardware and software, and computer operating systems.
  • 8 Years: Experience in analyzing requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria, and write test plans and test scenarios to validate that the requirements are met within the application and/or business processes.
  • 8 Years: Skill analyzing software applications, defects, and business problems to draw evidence-based conclusions and devise innovative solutions
  • 3 Years: Skill using HP Unified Functional Testing (UFT), Katalon, HP LoadRunner, SoapUI, LoadUI, Selenium HP Application Lifecycle Management (ALM), HP Product Portfolio Management (PPM), SQL, XML, and running and creating interface files and running batch.
  • 3 Years: Experience working together with varied levels of development, testing staff, and end-users using Agile principles and methodologies
  • 3 Years: Hands on software quality assurance (manual and/or automated testing) experience using one or more of HP Unified Functional Testing (UFT), SoapUI, Selenium, HP Application Lifecycle Management (ALM), HP Product Portfolio Management (PPM), JIRA, JAMA, PLSQ

Position Details:

  • The primary work location(s) will be at 1609 Centre Creek Dr. Austin, TX 78754. The working position is Hybrid - On Site and Telework.
  • Position will be 3 days remote with 2 days (Mondays and Tuesdays) required to be onsite at the location listed above. Program will only accept LOCAL ONLY candidates for this position.
  • Services are expected to start 11/17/2025 and are expected to complete by 08/31/2026. Total estimated hours per Candidate shall not exceed 2000 hours. This service may be amended, renewed, and/or extended providing both parties agree to do so in writing.
  • Services shall be provided during normal business hours unless otherwise coordinated through the Texas Health and Human Services Commission. Normal business hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, excluding State holidays when the agency is closed.
