Job Title: QA/QC Inspector

Location: Qatar
Job Category: Quality Assurance / Quality Control

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and certified QA/QC Inspector (Marine) to ensure the highest standards of quality and integrity for our marine assets and projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing and executing all quality control activities, ensuring strict compliance with project specifications, international standards, and Class society rules. This role is critical in maintaining the safety, reliability, and performance of our offshore and marine operations.

Key Responsibilities

Inspection & Testing:

  • Perform and document visual, dimensional, and fit-up inspections of structural and piping assemblies against approved drawings and specifications.
  • Conduct and interpret various Non-Destructive Tests (NDT) including Magnetic Particle (MPI), Liquid Penetrant (DPT), Ultrasonic (UT), and Radiographic Testing (RT).
  • Carry out Ultrasonic Thickness Gauging (UTG) surveys and prepare detailed reports using AutoCAD and Class-approved software.
  • Witness and certify pressure tests, vacuum tests, and other hydrostatic/pneumatic tests as per project requirements.

Quality System & Compliance:

  • Monitor and enforce adherence to QA/QC procedures, welding consumable controls, material traceability, and calibration schedules.
  • Maintain all QA/QC documents, records, and trackers (e.g., Welding, NDT) in strict accordance with document control procedures.
  • Ensure all inspection instruments are calibrated and certification registers are up-to-date.

Stakeholder & Third-Party Liaison:

  • Work closely with Class societies (e.g., ABS, DNV, Lloyd's), client representatives, and third-party inspection agencies to coordinate and witness surveys and inspections.
  • Interface effectively with production teams to provide quality guidance and ensure procedural compliance.

Specialized Mechanical Inspection:

  • Perform precision inspections in mechanical and machine shops, including shaft alignment, bearing clearance checks, and run-out/trueness measurements.
  • Conduct incoming material inspection and final inspection of surface preparation and coating/painting activities.

Non-Conformance Management:

  • Actively participate in the investigation, root cause analysis, and resolution of Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and customer complaints.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of direct experience as a QA/QC Inspector within the Marine, Offshore Oil & Gas, or Petrochemical industry.
  • CSWIP 3.1 or AWS-CWI certification.
  • ASNT Level-II certification in a minimum of two methods (RT, UT, PT, MT).
  • Proven hands-on experience with thickness measurement software and AutoCAD.

Highly Desirable:

  • Previous work experience within the GCC region.
  • NACE Level II or BGAS Grade 2 coating inspector certification.
  • Formal training or certification in ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems.
