ROLE OVERVIEW
We are looking for an experienced GRP Inspector to join a 3-month project assignment at Ras Laffan Industrial City, Qatar. The role covers both factory manufacturing inspection and site installation inspection of GRP/GRE piping systems for LNG and oil & gas facilities. The successful candidate will work as an independent third-party inspector, ensuring all materials, fabrication processes, and installed systems meet applicable international codes and project specifications.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Factory Inspection

Witness and review GRP/GRE lamination, curing, and manufacturing processes
-
Verify raw material compliance against approved project specifications
-
Conduct dimensional, visual, and structural inspections of pipes, fittings, and vessels
-
Witness Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) – hydrostatic and spark tests
-
Review and approve ITPs, WPS/PQRs for bonding and lamination joints
-
Issue Factory Inspection Reports, NCRs, and Inspection Release Notes
Site Inspection
-
Inspect GRP pipeline installation, structural elements, and tanks during construction
-
Witness Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) including hydrostatic and leak tests

Verify joint integrity – adhesive bonded, laminated, and flanged connections
-
Review contractor QC documentation, material traceability, and as-built records
-
Compile and submit inspection dossiers and final completion reports

Candidates must be familiar with the following standards:

ISO 14692 – GRP Piping Systems for Oil & Gas

ASTM D2996 / D2997 – Filament-Wound & Centrifugally Cast GRP Pipe

AWWA C950 – GRP Pressure Pipe

BS 7159 – Design & Construction of GRP Vessels

ASME / API Standards – Pressure Testing & Inspection Protocols
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Essential
-
10–15 years of GRP/GRE inspection experience – both site and factory
-
Degree or diploma in Mechanical, Chemical, Materials, or Civil Engineering
-
Recognised inspection certification: BGAS, CSWIP, or equivalent
-
QHSE Basic Safety Certificate (required for RLIC site access)

Valid H2S Awareness certification
-
Experience on LNG, petrochemical, or gas processing projects

Valid medical fitness certificate
Advantageous
-
Prior experience with a TIC (Testing, Inspection & Certification) company
-
GRP manufacturer familiarity: Amiblu, NOV Fiber Glass, Hobas, or Flowtite
-
Valid or recently expired RLIC / QatarEnergy gate pass
-
Candidates already based in Qatar or GCC preferred
