Position Overview

The QA/QC Plumbing & Drainage Specialist (Mechanical) is responsible for the full QA/QC oversight of plumbing and drainage systems. This includes inspection, verification, testing, and compliance checks for water supply networks, drainage networks, pumps, pipework, supports, traps, fixtures, water-tightness tests, and all related mechanical works.

The Specialist ensures that all installations follow project specifications, approved shop drawings, authority regulations, and international codes. This role is hands-on and site-focused, requiring an immediate start and a relevant engineering degree.

Key Responsibilities

1. QA/QC Oversight for Plumbing & Drainage Works

Conduct site inspections and verify:

  • Water supply distribution networks
  • Drainage piping systems (soil, waste, vent, condensate, storm/roof drainage)
  • Pipework routing, alignment, and slope requirements
  • Pipe supports, hanger spacing, and bracket installation
  • Installation of floor traps, cleanouts, grease interceptors, and backflow preventers
  • Water heaters, pumps, transfer sets, and booster systems
  • Ensure all materials and installations comply with:
  • Project specifications
  • Approved IFC/shop drawings
  • Authority regulations (DM, DEWA, Civil Defense)
  • International standards (UPC, IPC, ASME, ASTM)

2. Testing & Water Tightness Verification

Oversee and witness plumbing system testing, including:

  • Hydrostatic pressure tests for water supply
  • Air/water tests for drainage systems
  • Water-tightness and leak detection
  • Pump testing and operational verification
  • Ensure test results are properly recorded, documented, and meet acceptance criteria.

3. Fixture & Equipment Installation Compliance

Inspect installation and alignment of all plumbing fixtures including:

  • Sinks, WCs, showers, floor drains
  • Water heaters and mixing valves
  • Pump sets and associated control systems
  • Confirm correct installation according to manufacturer guidelines and project details.

4. Site Coordination & Interface Management

Coordinate with:

  • Mechanical teams (HVAC, fire fighting, drainage)
  • Civil and architectural teams for floor openings, sleeves, and finishing interfaces
  • Electrical teams for pump connections and control wiring
  • Ensure no clashes exist with other services and proper clearances are maintained.

5. Documentation & Reporting

Prepare and maintain:

  • Work Inspection Requests (WIRs)
  • Material Inspection Requests (MIRs)
  • ITPs and method statement reviews
  • Daily QA/QC logs and inspection reports
  • NCRs and follow-up corrective actions
  • Ensure all plumbing & drainage QA/QC documentation is complete for handover.

6. Compliance, Safety & Code Adherence

Verify compliance with:

  • Plumbing code requirements
  • Water conservation and safety standards
  • Proper venting, slopes, and drainage transitions
  • Proper installation of fire-stopping, insulation, and pipe identification
  • Promote safe working practices and ensure hazardous installations are rectified immediately.

Qualifications & Experience

Mandatory Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Immediate availability to join the project.

Experience

  • 3–7 years of experience in plumbing and drainage systems, ideally in QA/QC or supervision roles.
  • Strong experience in large-scale buildings, infrastructure, or data center-type projects.
  • Knowledge of international and local plumbing/drainage standards.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of plumbing and drainage codes and standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret:
  • Plumbing shop drawings
  • Coordination drawings
  • As-built layouts
  • High attention to detail with a quality-driven approach.
  • Solid communication, site coordination, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work within fast-paced, high-pressure construction environments.
  • Strong documentation and reporting capability.

Work Environment

  • Primarily site-based across various building and external work areas.
  • Regular interaction with mechanical, civil, electrical, and QA/QC teams.
  • Active inspection role requiring daily physical presence and close monitoring.

An immediate joiner with an engineering degree is required to support ongoing project demands and deliverables.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED5,500.00 - AED6,600.00 per month
