Job Purpose:
The QC Inspector – Painting & Coating is responsible for monitoring, inspecting, and ensuring that all surface preparation, painting, and coating activities comply with project specifications, international standards, and client requirements in Oil & Gas projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect surface preparation activities such as blasting, power tool cleaning, and chemical cleaning.
- Verify surface cleanliness, profile, and environmental conditions before coating application.
- Monitor and inspect painting and coating application at all stages.
- Ensure compliance with approved Inspection & Test Plans (ITP), Method Statements, and project specifications.
- Check coating materials, batch numbers, shelf life, and storage conditions.
- Measure and record Dry Film Thickness (DFT), Wet Film Thickness (WFT), adhesion, holiday testing, and curing times.
- Ensure environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, dew point) are within acceptable limits.
- Conduct visual inspections for defects such as blistering, pinholes, runs, sags, and peeling.
- Coordinate with contractors and site teams to resolve non-conformities.
- Raise NCRs and follow up on corrective and preventive actions.
- Prepare daily inspection reports, coating logs, and quality documentation.
- Ensure compliance with international standards such as NACE, SSPC, ISO, and ASTM.
- Support client, consultant, and third-party inspections.
- Ensure all activities comply with HSE requirements and safe working practices.
Qualifications & Certifications:
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical / Chemical / Industrial Engineering or relevant field.
- NACE Level II / BGAS / FROSIO certification (mandatory or preferred).
- Valid certification in coating inspection techniques.
Experience:
- Minimum 3–7 years of experience as a QC Inspector – Painting & Coating in Oil & Gas projects.
- Experience in onshore/offshore Oil & Gas facilities, pipelines, tanks, and steel structures.
Technical Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong knowledge of surface preparation standards (SA 1, SA 2, SA 2.5, SA 3).
- Familiar with coating systems (epoxy, polyurethane, zinc-rich, FBE, etc.).
- Proficient in inspection instruments (DFT gauge, hygrometer, surface profile gauge).
- Knowledge of relevant standards: ISO 8501, ISO 12944, NACE, SSPC, ASTM.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and data sheets.

Work Environment:
