QC Inspector – Painting / Coating

ROLE PURPOSE

To perform independent quality control inspection of painting / coating activities on behalf of client, ensuring works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, procedures, codes, and project specifications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform in-process and final QC inspection of painting / coating works in accordance with approved ITPs, drawings, and specifications.
  • Inspect surface preparation (blasting/cleaning) against specified standards (Sa 2.5, etc.) using appropriate gauges and profile checks.
  • Monitor paint/coating application, film thickness (DFT/WFT), holiday testing, and adhesion testing.
  • Verify environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, dew point) prior to and during coating application.
  • Review and verify contractor/sub-contractor QC documentation, material certificates, and inspection & test records.
  • Raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for deviations and monitor corrective actions to close-out.
  • Ensure full compliance with project HSE requirements at all times while on site.

QUALIFICATION & CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Diploma/Degree in Mechanical, Welding, or related Engineering discipline (or equivalent trade background).
  • BGAS Grade 2 / NACE Level 2 (Coating Inspector) — mandatory and current.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 12944, SSPC, and NACE/BGAS coating standards.
  • Experience with coating inspection instruments (DFT gauge, holiday detector, adhesion tester).

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 5 years' experience as QC Inspector (Painting/Coating) in Oil & Gas
  • Proven QC inspection experience on Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or LNG EPC/brownfield projects.
  • Working knowledge of relevant international codes and standards applicable to the discipline.
