Position: QC Welding Inspector

Location: Qatar
Industry: Oil & Gas / Construction / Fabrication
Reports to: QA/QC Manager / QC Supervisor

Job Summary

The QC Welding Inspector is responsible for inspecting and monitoring welding activities to ensure compliance with approved WPS, drawings, project specifications, applicable codes, and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out welding inspections in accordance with approved WPS, ITPs, drawings, and specifications
• Ensure all welding activities comply with applicable codes and standards
• Verify welder qualifications, WPS/PQR approvals, and consumable control
• Perform visual inspection before, during, and after welding
• Coordinate with NDT teams for RT, UT, MT, and PT as per ITP
• Review and maintain welding inspection reports and quality records
• Raise NCRs for non-conforming works and monitor corrective actions
• Witness repair welding and ensure compliance with approved procedures
• Interface with production, engineering, and client/third-party inspectors
• Ensure proper documentation and timely submission of inspection reports

Qualification & Certification

• Diploma / Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector – Mandatory

Experience

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience AFTER obtaining CSWIP 3.1 certification
• Experience in oil & gas projects, fabrication workshops, or construction sites
• GCC experience preferred

Technical Knowledge

• Welding processes: SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, SAW
• Codes & Standards: ASME, AWS, API, ISO
• Strong understanding of drawings, WPS, PQR, ITPs
