Job Summary
The QC Welding Inspector is responsible for inspecting and monitoring welding activities to ensure compliance with approved WPS, drawings, project specifications, applicable codes, and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out welding inspections in accordance with approved WPS, ITPs, drawings, and specifications
- Ensure all welding activities comply with applicable codes and standards
- Verify welder qualifications, WPS/PQR approvals, and consumable control
- Perform visual inspection before, during, and after welding
- Coordinate with NDT teams for RT, UT, MT, and PT as per ITP
- Review and maintain welding inspection reports and quality records
- Raise NCRs for non-conforming works and monitor corrective actions
- Witness repair welding and ensure compliance with approved procedures
- Interface with production, engineering, and client/third-party inspectors
- Ensure proper documentation and timely submission of inspection reports
Qualification & Certification
- Diploma / Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector – Mandatory
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience AFTER obtaining CSWIP 3.1 certification
- Experience in oil & gas projects, fabrication workshops, or construction sites
- GCC experience preferred
Technical Knowledge
- Welding processes: SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, SAW
- Codes & Standards: ASME, AWS, API, ISO
- Strong understanding of drawings, WPS, PQR, ITPs
