Position: QC Lab In-Charge – FIBC

Department: Quality Assurance / Quality Control

Reporting To: Head – QA & QC, Sulzer Weaving

Job Purpose

To ensure that all FIBC (Jumbo Bag) products, woven fabric, and webbing are manufactured, tested, approved, and dispatched in strict compliance with customer specifications, international standards, and internal quality management systems, with specific responsibility for Sulzer loom fabric quality, webbing quality control, and dispatch documentation.

Key Responsibilities

1. Quality Control & Assurance

  • Implement and maintain quality control procedures for raw materials, in-process production, and finished FIBC products, fabric, and webbing.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 21898, UN certification, FDA (where applicable), and customer-specific requirements.
  • Monitor and control critical quality parameters in:
  • Tape extrusion
  • Warping
  • Webbing (width, thickness, tensile strength, elongation, weave quality)
  • Lamination extrusion
  • Weaving on Sulzer looms
  • Approve first-off samples and ensure quality consistency during mass production.

2. Testing & Inspection

  • Conduct and supervise testing including:
  • Fabric and webbing tensile strength & elongation
  • Fabric GSM and webbing linear density
  • Seam strength
  • UV stabilization monitoring
  • Drop tests and performance tests
  • Ensure calibration and upkeep of all laboratory testing instruments.
  • Coordinate third-party inspections and lab testing for UN, customer, and regulatory requirements.

3. Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain complete and accurate quality documentation, including:
  • Inspection reports and test records
  • Certificates of Analysis (COA)
  • Batch Manufacturing Records (BMR)
  • Calibration and validation records
  • Handle customer complaints, perform root cause analysis, and implement CAPA.
  • Support internal audits, ISO audits, UN audits, and customer audits, ensuring closure of observations.
  • Ensure full traceability of fabric, webbing, and finished FIBCs.

4. Fabric & Webbing Inspection and Dispatch Control (Export & Internal Units)

  • Inspect and approve woven fabric rolls and webbing reels prior to dispatch to export customers and internal bag-making units.
  • Verify that fabric and webbing specifications (GSM, width, length, construction, tensile strength, and visual quality) conform to approved standards.
  • Prepare, verify, and approve packing lists for fabric and webbing dispatch, including:
  • Roll / reel numbers
  • GSM or linear density
  • Width, length, and quantity
  • Weight
  • Lot / batch numbers
  • Ensure proper labeling, identification, and traceability of all dispatched fabric and webbing.
  • Coordinate with production, stores, and dispatch teams for timely and accurate dispatch.

5. Team Management & Training

  • Lead, train, and supervise QC inspectors, lab technicians, and QA staff.
  • Ensure compliance with SOPs, work instructions, safety norms, and quality standards.
  • Promote quality awareness across weaving, webbing, lamination, and bag-making operations.

6. Customer, Audit & Development Support

  • Coordinate with customers, surveyors, inspection agencies, and certification bodies.
  • Ensure readiness for customer audits, pre-dispatch inspections, and certification audits.
  • Support new product development, trials, and process improvements from a quality perspective.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of FIBC manufacturing, woven fabric, and webbing processes.
  • Hands-on experience with Sulzer loom fabric quality control.
  • Knowledge of ISO 21898, UN standards, FDA requirements, and customer specifications.
  • Excellent documentation, reporting, and audit-handling skills.
  • Strong leadership, coordination, and problem-solving abilities.

Educational Qualification & Experience

  • Diploma / Bachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 5–10 years of experience in FIBC quality control, including fabric and webbing inspection and dispatch control.
  • Experience handling dispatch documentation for export and internal transfers preferred

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹45,000.00 - ₹55,000.00 per month
