The QC Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that all mechanical works in construction projects are executed in compliance with project specifications, international codes, and quality standards. The role involves supervising inspections, reviewing material and method statements, coordinating with consultants, and ensuring proper implementation of quality procedures at site.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality control procedures for mechanical works (HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, drainage, and other MEP systems).
- Review and approve mechanical material submittals, method statements, and inspection & test plans (ITPs).
- Conduct site inspections to verify that work is executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Coordinate with consultants, clients, and subcontractors regarding inspection requests, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and corrective/preventive actions.
- Ensure mechanical testing, commissioning, and inspection activities are performed and documented properly.
- Maintain and update quality records, checklists, and inspection reports for mechanical works.
- Provide technical guidance and quality assurance support to site teams.
- Monitor adherence to safety and environmental standards in all mechanical installations.
- Assist in project handover documentation and final approval processes.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in quality control of mechanical systems within the construction industry (preferably in building projects).
- Proven knowledge of international standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, ASTM, etc.) and local authority regulations.
- Experience in preparing and reviewing QA/QC documentation.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- UPDA Certification is an added advantage.
