Job Summary

The QC Piping Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all piping fabrication, welding, erection, installation, and testing activities are carried out in accordance with approved procedures, project specifications, international codes, and client quality requirements. The inspector shall perform inspection activities related to piping systems, welding works, and associated documentation. A valid CSWIP 3.1 certification is mandatory for this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspection of piping fabrication, fit-up, welding, erection, and installation activities.
  • Verify compliance with approved WPS, PQR, ITP, method statements, and project specifications.
  • Perform visual inspection of weld joints before, during, and after welding activities.
  • Monitor welding parameters, joint preparation, alignment, and dimensional checks.
  • Coordinate and witness NDT activities such as RT, UT, MT, and PT.
  • Ensure proper material identification, traceability, and heat number verification.
  • Review piping isometrics, P&IDs, GA drawings, and welding documents.
  • Conduct hydrotest, pneumatic test, flushing, and reinstatement inspections.
  • Raise NCRs for non-conforming activities and monitor corrective actions.
  • Prepare inspection reports, punch lists, and QA/QC documentation.
  • Coordinate with client inspectors, third-party inspectors, and construction teams.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes such as ASME B31.3, ASME Section IX, API, and project standards.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Valid CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector certification (Mandatory).
  • Minimum 5–10 years of experience in piping and welding inspection within Oil & Gas or fabrication projects.
  • Strong knowledge of piping systems, welding processes, and inspection procedures.
  • Familiarity with ASME, API, AWS, and ISO standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret piping drawings, isometrics, and P&IDs.
  • Experience in refinery, petrochemical, LNG, shutdown, or offshore projects is preferred.
  • Knowledge of QA/QC documentation, ITPs, NCRs, and inspection reports.
  • NDT Level II certification will be an added advantage.
  • Good communication and reporting skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with QatarEnergy / Qatargas / Shell standards.
  • Knowledge of material traceability and welding consumables control.
  • Strong coordination and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with SAP, MS Office, and QA/QC software systems.
