Position Overview

Claxton are looking to hire a QHSE Advisor on a full time, permanent basis. Based at their facility in Abu Dhabi, the QHSE Advisor will be responsible for implementing and monitoring key QHSE elements to ensure compliance with the Claxton policies and procedures. The role offers expert advice and support to all departments to ensure the company fulfils its QHSE obligations and promotes a positive health, safety, and security focused culture.

Duties & Main Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain an effective dialogue with all departments, particularly operational departments, to ensure HSSE support is integral to company culture, projects, and operations delivery.
  • Support operations with the preparation of HSE plans and coordination of COSHH, risk and manual handling assessments.
  • Act as a Global Travel, Safety & Security Advisor - research and prepare security assessments for management decision making and employees who travel as part of their role.
  • Compile and present HSSE training and awareness sessions as directed.
  • Implement key elements of HSSE within the organisation as directed.
  • Take a proactive stance to opportunities that lead to clear improvement in safety and environmental performance across all company elements.
  • Monitor internal SSOW including compliance to control hazardous substances, workplace and work equipment safety, manual handling/testing operations, personal protective equipment, noise, and vibration issues.
  • Participate in incident investigations.
  • Lead periodic staff HSSE meetings and consultations.
  • Conduct regular area safety inspections and monitor operational practices, reporting findings and recommendations.
  • Deliver QHSE inductions to new staff and contractor site visit inductions after review of contractor method statements and risk assessments and verification on site.
  • Conduct internal and external audits.
  • Evaluate prospective suppliers' HSE credentials prior to adding them to the company ASL.
  • Support the maintenance of the company legal compliance register.
  • Support and visit offshore operations as required.
  • Review operational risk assessments and verification documents for adequacy and file.
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • CIPS (Chartered Institute of Purchase and Supply) qualified or equivalent.
  • Understanding of Supply Chain functions and systems.
  • Experience in contractual matters.
  • Degree educated or equivalent.
  • NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health or equivalent.
  • ISO 9001, 45001 & 14001 Auditor qualifications.
  • Oil and gas industry standards & regulations and safety related requirements.
  • Risk management strategy, development, and implementation.
  • Accident/hazard investigation and analysis to drive improvements.
  • Behavioural safety programmes, occupational health, mental health and quality improvement strategies.
  • Development and delivery of HSE Training.
  • Environmental improvement planning.
  • Computer literate on Microsoft Office packages.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Advocate for change and the ability to influence others to deliver change initiatives.
