Job Summary:
The QHSE Officer is responsible for ensuring all foundry operations comply with company quality, health, safety, and environmental standards. The role focuses on maintaining ISO systems, promoting safe work practices, ensuring product quality, and minimizing environmental impact. The position requires strong knowledge of foundry processes, including melting, molding, casting, fettling, and finishing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain QHSE policies, procedures, and manuals specific to foundry operations.
- Conduct regular safety inspections across melting, casting, and fettling areas to identify and mitigate hazards (e.g., molten metal handling, fumes, dust, noise, and heat exposure).
- Monitor compliance with ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environment), and ISO 45001 (Health & Safety) standards.
- Ensure safe handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals, sand, and waste materials in line with environmental regulations.
- Lead incident, accident, and near-miss investigations; identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure control measures are in place for high-risk foundry activities.
- Monitor air quality, noise levels, and emissions to maintain a safe and compliant workplace.
- Develop and deliver QHSE induction and refresher training for all employees and contractors.
- Ensure calibration and maintenance of measuring equipment used in quality and safety processes.
- Support the production team in implementing process improvements to enhance quality and reduce waste.
- Maintain documentation, records, and reports for audits and management reviews.
- Liaise with local authorities and external auditors for inspections, certifications, and environmental compliance.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical, Industrial, or Environmental Engineering.
- 3–5 years of experience in QHSE within a foundry, metal casting, or heavy manufacturing environment.
- Sound knowledge of foundry processes, materials, and safety risks.
- Certification in NEBOSH / IOSH / ISO Internal Auditing preferred.
- Strong understanding of occupational health standards, PPE requirements, and environmental regulations.
- Excellent reporting and communication skills.
- Proficient in MS Office and familiar with QHSE management systems.
