- Review project specifications, ITPs, method statements, and insulation manufacturer’s data sheets specific to oil & gas requirements
- Inspect insulation materials for hot, cold, cryogenic, and acoustic applications to verify compliance with project standards and thermal performance criteria
- Verify proper storage, handling, and protection of insulation and cladding materials to avoid contamination, moisture absorption, or damage before installation
- Inspect substrate surfaces (pipes, vessels, tanks, equipment, ducts) to ensure they are clean, dry, and coated as per approved painting/coating systems before insulation work begins
- Monitor installation of insulation to confirm correct thickness, density, layering, and joint alignment as per P&IDs, isometrics, and project drawings
- Check integrity of vapor barriers, weather barriers, aluminum/steel cladding, jacketing, and sealing to ensure full protection against corrosion under insulation (CUI) and environmental conditions
- Verify fastening systems (bands, screws, wires, adhesives, pins) for proper application to prevent insulation loosening under operational conditions
- Conduct dimensional and thickness checks to confirm insulation complies with project and client requirements for thermal efficiency and safety
- Inspect for gaps, overlaps, and potential moisture traps that can lead to corrosion, and ensure corrective measures are implemented
- Witness removal and reinstatement of insulation during modifications, shutdowns, or maintenance to confirm compliance with standards and specifications
- Ensure adherence to international codes and standards such as ASTM, ISO, BS, NACE, Aramco standards, and project-specific oil & gas specifications
- Verify calibration and correct use of inspection instruments such as thickness gauges, measuring tapes, hygrometers, and thermal cameras
- Identify, record, and report non-conformities (NCRs), ensure corrective actions are carried out, and re-inspect to confirm closure
- Prepare daily inspection reports, maintain QA/QC records, and compile final documentation packages for client approval and handover
- Coordinate with insulation contractors, client representatives, and third-party inspectors for joint inspections and acceptance of completed works
