Purpose of the Role

The QA/QC Officer is responsible for ensuring that all products meet established quality and safety standards before reaching customers. This role combines both preventive measures (Quality Assurance) and detection activities (Quality Control) to maintain compliance with international food safety regulations, company policies, and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance (QA):

  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality management systems in line with ISO, HACCP, and other regulatory standards.
  • Monitor compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain all documentation related to quality, audits, and certifications.
  • Conduct internal audits and support external audits from regulatory bodies or clients.
  • Provide training to production staff on hygiene, safety, and quality procedures.

Quality Control (QC):

  • Inspect incoming raw materials to ensure they meet specifications.
  • Conduct in-process checks during production (e.g., temperature, viscosity, texture, packaging integrity).
  • Perform final product testing, including sensory evaluation, weight control, and packaging verification.
  • Operate and monitor quality control instruments such as metal detectors, moisture analyzers, and viscosity meters.
  • Record and report all test results, ensuring any non-conformance is immediately escalated.

General Duties:

  • Investigate customer complaints and internal non-conformities, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and reduce waste.
  • Collaborate with Production, R&D, and Supply Chain teams to resolve quality-related issues.
  • Ensure safe handling, storage, and labeling of raw materials and finished goods.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology, Chemistry, Microbiology, or related field.
  • Minimum 2–4 years of experience in Quality Assurance and/or Quality Control in the food industry (chocolate/confectionery experience preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 22000, HACCP, GMP, and Halal standards.
  • Attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and reporting abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Compliance with audits and certifications.
  • Percentage of rejected batches or customer complaints.
  • On-time completion of inspections and reports.
  • Effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
