With a strong foundation and growing retail footprint, the organization is seeking a Quality Assurance Coordinator to assist in all aspects of food safety and quality programs.

Summary of Role and Essential Functions:

The Quality Assurance Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring the integrity and safety of our food products. This position is responsible for executing quality control processes, including product inspections, sample management, and lab testing coordination. The role also involves maintaining accurate records, preparing reports, and supporting compliance with customer and regulatory standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Distribution Center:

Inspection of products from incoming containers
Collection and transport of frozen samples to 3rd party frozen warehouse (Salinas/Watsonville) as needed

Pre-shipment Samples and Laboratory Testing:

Log pre-shipment samples into database and label and assign sample ID
Prepare samples and paperwork for sensory evaluation, as well as 3rd party testing
Arrange samples for custom testing according to specific customer needs
Complete monthly product testing according to established schedule
Enter database and file test results as the reports are received
Notify management when results are non-compliant
Maintain and organize sample retain area, includes quarterly removal of expired product in Distribution Center and Headquarter
Maintain lab area in a clean and organized fashion and keep equipment in stock

Prepare reports:

Of deficiencies and/or product release
Ensure all Certificate of Analysis for each product and lot are received from the suppliers/lab
Custom COAs for specific customer requirements
Update and maintain QA Hold Log and send out monthly QA hold summary
Investigates and close out customer complaints
Complete customer documentation request

Required Skills and Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Employee is responsible for performing work efficiently and accurately. Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as presentation skills
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Valid Driver’s License (This position consists of up to 10% traveling)
Proficient computer skills (Excel, Word)
Degree or educational background in science-related field

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

Proficient in documentation and workflow

Work hours, location, and environment:

This position is based in Gilroy, CA. with occasional travel to other locations required. Part time, 8am to 2pm, Monday through Wednesday, possibly adding Thursday 8am to 2pm.
